- East CSAS tank is divided into two compartments – a selector compartment for biosorption and a main aeration compartment for oxidative degradation.
Cyclic Sequencing Activated Sludge Process (CSAS)
Envirocare’s CSAS tank is designed to operate in a cyclical manner in sequence of aeration, sedimentation, and effluent draw respectively. As such, each CSAS tank is used for the dual functions of aeration and sedimentation, thus eliminating the use of an external secondary clarifier or sedimentation tank.
The functions of aeration, sedimentation and effluent draw are all controlled automatically by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
Key features of the CSAS:
- Each system allows for continuous flow of influent 24/7.
While the system allows the effluent to be removed in batches, the design for our system enables users to pump in the influent continuously. As such, there is no need for a large holding tank which may cause unwanted odour to be produced.
- Very efficient use of energy
Envirocare’s Cyclic Sequencing Activated Sludge (CSAS) minimises the use of energy through the highly efficient diffuser system. We employ the use of proven and highly efficient blowers, along with thoughtfully designed instrumentation for process control.
- Effectively removes BOD with a high level of consistency and reliability.
Envirocare’s CSAS had been installed in more than 100 different projects with great success. Each CSAS is customized for the specific influent characteristic, flow and outcome desired.
- Removes Nitrogen through denitrification process (3 in 1 system)
One of the advantages of Envirocare’s CSAS is the ability to allow for several processes to take place in a single system. Through thoughtfully designed control systems, the CSAS allows sufficient time for oxidation through aeration, denitrification through creating an anoxic environment, settling of suspended solids as well as allowing for sustainable growth of activated sludge.
- Allows for settling to remove suspended solids
The system eliminates the need for a separate settling tank or clarifier for the removal of suspended solids. It results in great savings in space and energy consumed.
- Highly flexible for different flow requirement.
The CSAS can be designed to meet different flow requirement from 20m3/d to 50,000m3/d. Each system can be used as a standalone or can be coupled together for different variations of influent flow.
- Low Maintenance requirement
Envirocare values designs that will bring about savings in both future operations and maintenance. For example, we employ the smart use of decanters instead of mechanical actuators to minimize potential maintenance requirement, yet achieving reliable and high effective outcome.
