There are several latest trends in wastewater treatment technologies, which are aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the treatment process while also reducing the impact on the environment. Some of the latest trends include:

  1. Smart Wastewater Treatment: With the increasing use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, smart wastewater treatment systems are becoming more common. These systems use sensors and real-time data to optimize treatment processes, reducing energy consumption and improving the efficiency of the treatment process.
  2. Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR): MABR is a relatively new wastewater treatment technology that combines biological treatment with membrane filtration. As an alternative to the proven CSAS, MABRs are also known for their high-efficiency removal of nutrients and pollutants, producing high-quality treated water.

These systems can be used in rural areas, small communities, and industrial facilities to treat wastewater on-site, reducing the need for large centralized treatment plants and the associated infrastructure.

Technologies such as anaerobic digestion and biogas production can be used to recover energy from wastewater, while nutrient recovery technologies such as phosphorus recovery can be used to produce fertilizer.

As these new trends emerge, it reflects the Industry’s need for a smart, efficient and sustainable way of treatment. However, it is important to adopt and integrate these new trends and technologies into our proven systems for higher reliability and performance.
