Envirocare is thrilled to celebrate over 30 years of partnership with Unilever Indonesia, a global leader in consumer goods, renowned for household brands such as Bango, Lifebuoy, Wall’s, and many others. This enduring collaboration highlights our shared commitment to sustainability, innovation, and excellence in wastewater treatment, ensuring responsible water management and environmental stewardship for one of Indonesia’s most iconic manufacturing operations.

In 2025, Envirocare is proud to return to Unilever’s Bango sauce factory to modernise its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). This facility, originally designed and constructed by Envirocare in 2007 and expanded in 2013, is now undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment to meet Unilever’s growing production needs while adhering to stringent environmental standards. Our advanced wastewater treatment solutions incorporate state-of-the-art technologies, including enhanced filtration systems, energy-efficient processes, and optimised water recycling methods, to support Unilever’s global sustainability goals, such as water stewardship, zero-waste production, and reduced environmental impact.
A Legacy of Collaboration
Our partnership with Unilever Indonesia dates back over three decades, rooted in a shared vision for sustainable industrial practices. The Bango sauce factory, a cornerstone of Unilever’s operations in Indonesia, produces one of the nation’s most beloved condiments. The wastewater treatment plant at this facility plays a critical role in ensuring that production processes align with Unilever’s commitment to responsible manufacturing. By upgrading the WWTP, Envirocare is enabling Unilever to maintain operational efficiency while minimising its environmental footprint, particularly in water usage and waste management.
The 2025 upgrade builds on our previous successes at the Bango factory. The original 2007 system was designed to handle the facility’s wastewater output efficiently, and the 2013 expansion accommodated increased production demands. Today, our focus is on modernising the system with cutting-edge wastewater treatment technologies, such as advanced biological treatment processes and automated monitoring systems, to ensure compliance with Indonesia’s environmental regulations and Unilever’s global sustainability standards.
Why Wastewater Treatment Matters
Wastewater treatment is a critical component of sustainable industrial operations, particularly in industries like consumer goods manufacturing, where large volumes of water are used in production, cleaning, and processing. Untreated wastewater can pose significant environmental risks, including water pollution and ecosystem degradation. Envirocare’s wastewater treatment solutions are designed to address these challenges by:
-
Reducing contaminants: Our systems remove pollutants, ensuring that discharged water meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
-
Promoting water reuse: Advanced filtration and recycling technologies allow treated water to be reused in production processes, reducing overall water consumption.
-
Minimising waste: Our zero-waste-focused designs help industries like Unilever achieve their sustainability goals by reducing sludge and other byproducts.
-
Enhancing energy efficiency: Modern WWTP systems incorporate energy-saving technologies, lowering operational costs and environmental impact.
By implementing these solutions at Unilever’s Bango factory, Envirocare is helping to protect local water resources, support biodiversity, and contribute to a cleaner, greener Indonesia.
